While DYN has brought together a one-of-a-kind team of experienced artists, media producers, teachers, and researchers, we align ourselves with various schools, initiatives, and organizations similarly committed to supporting students' growth and learning through media.
We partner with the following schools to provide youth opportunities to develop their 21st century new media literacies.
- University of Chicago Charter School Carter G. Woodson Campus
- University of Chicago Charter School Woodlawn Campus
- Betty Shabazz International Charter School Dusable Campus
- Kenwood Academy Magnet High School
- Urban Prep High School
We have established partnerships and projects with the following organizations to provide extended resources, exposure, and access for DYN students and staff.
- The Chicago Public Library: Through our work developing the new YOUmedia space, we've helped to inspire collaboration and creativity by connecting young adults, books, media, and institutions throughout Chicago in one dynamic space.
- The Common Ground Foundation: Rapper, actor, and Chicago native Common's foundation worked with us in 2009 to expand our high school programming and allow young people to use their media skills to engage with their peers around issues of social responsibility.
- Quest Atlantis: We've put a heavy focus on developing a web-based social networking platform for learning and have partnered with the amazing team at Indiana University to create a 3D virtual world to extend our "virtual resources" beyond the web.
- Vocalo.org: This groundbreaking new station is a part of Chicago Public Radio. They've partnered with DYN to allow for greater distribution of student work as well as to support our students and staff directly through workshops.
- International Feature Project: IFP-Chicago provided DYN students with access to seasoned film professionals and resources to support the students in becoming the next generation of filmmakers themselves. The first and most notable outcome of this 2008 partnership was the DYN student film, "Division 201."
- Youth Speaks: Brave New Voices Festival: DYN was a proud partner with this amazing program in 2009, when DYN students joined more than 500 young people converging on Chicago to compete. DYN students filmed a behind-the-scenes look at the 2009 festival.
- Institute of Play: We work with Katie Salen's wonderfully talented group in New York City and their ambitious new school design, Quest to Learn.
- Carnegie Mellon's Entertainment Technology Center
- The Marcus Graham Project: This ongoing partnership is a national initiative focused on exposing young African-Americans to careers in advertising, marketing, and entertainment.
