Digital Storytelling is designed to help students understand the connections between traditional (text based) storytelling and its relation to Media, Mass Media and the Storytelling processes within.
In this unit students will be exposed to narrative, persuasive and expository writings and how they transfer from text to visual images on screen in films, in news and documentary, and in advertisements.
Students will grasp the purposes, methods, and audiences of major genres in media and how to address them by creating print advertisements, podcasts, video trailers, commercials and short films.
In addition, the creation of this media will help students to recognize and discuss multiple rhetorical modes of media as well as strengthen their understanding of conventions in appropriate genres.
