Kimberly Austin is a research assistant on the DYN project engaged in documenting the emergence of this innovative program. Along with other members of the research team, she gathers evidence of student learning and instructional practice through observations, interviews and surveys.

Austin is also a doctoral candidate in sociology at the University of Chicago. Her research interests include institutional change in education focusing on the interface of classroom instruction and organizational arrangements. She holds a B.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University with a concentration in print journalism and a M.A. in Sociology from the University of Chicago. Her experience also includes teaching at the elementary and university-level as well as working as an educational consultant.
